Want To Be A Certified Pharmacy Technician?

Many people each year are faced with the decision on whether they should become a certified pharmacy technician.  Odds are good that they have heard that getting certified can help their career whether it be the increase in starting pay or the opportunity to interview for more selective employers.  Either way, this often leads to them wanting to get some more knowledge on what it takes to become certified.  Here, we take a closer look at this issue to help them know what they are getting into.

To get this certification, you will need to get an education at a pharmacy tech school.  There are a number of these schools around the country and they can be found by simply doing a basic Internet search.  These schools will offer classes in both online courses and in person classroom courses in your area.  The online courses offer the benefit of allowing people to more easily fit these classes into their schedules.  This is perfect for those who have to watch children or have a current working schedule with erratic hours.  It also has the convenience of being able to take the classes from home which helps cut down on gas costs and time spent traveling to a in person classroom.

Of course, taking the in person classroom courses have their advantages too.  These classes can make it easier for people to stay focused on the material as it more closely mirrors the standard educational process that most have grown up with.  In addition, they can better participate in lively class discussions and more easily ask questions of their professor since they are physically there.

Aside from deciding from what type of class you would like, you will need to make sure the program fits your budget and can be completed within your schedule.  Some courses like the online courses offer great flexibility in the length of the course as they are often self paced; however, you can reasonably expect training will run anywhere from 3 months to a year.

After the training is completed, you should be well prepared to take the certification exam.  This exam is offered year round but it is smarter to take it right after the training ends to ensure maximum retention.  The exam itself is a multiple choice exam that will key on the knowledge learned in the training.  Incidentally, this training is geared towards many of the main job duties that pharmacy techs experience.

By keeping all these different things in mind, you should have a better understanding of the process to becoming a certified pharmacy technician.

What Do X Ray Technician Schools Teach?

If you are interested in becoming an x-ray technician you will want to check out different x ray technician schools.  Although part of the classes can be done online there is much that will require hands on application.  There are all sorts of machines you will have to learn to operate.  You will also have to learn how to read x-rays.  Becoming an x-ray technician can take from one to four years.  If you want to get a bachelor’s degree in this you will need to attend school for four years.  Most people go for two years and have an associate’s degree in x-ray technology.

Some people will take their schooling even further by becoming a specialist in a particular field of x-ray technology.  You will go to x ray technician schools for a short time longer than a bachelor’s degree.  Many people who go to specialty training are aiming for a higher degree and better paying job.  They can get this with specialty training.

Recertification must be done if you become certified in x-ray technology.  Becoming certified is voluntary although many states will not issue a state license unless you are certified.  You will have to get recertified every two years in order to stay licensed.

X ray technician schools are busier than ever and well they should be.  It is believed there will be a big increase in the need for x-ray technicians in the next few years.  The baby boomers are reaching an age where they are in need of x-rays, mammograms, and sonograms.  These are all jobs that are done by the x-ray technician.  As long as there is a need for these tests there will be a need for the tech that performs these tests.

An x-ray technician will read x-rays and perform the tests needed.  He will be responsible for explaining the readings of the tests that are done.  He will have to be able to speak to patients and explain how their tests came out.  It is important that they have a personality that will allow them to get along with many people in a day.

The places that hire the most x-ray techs are hospitals.  It is because of hospitals, medical centers, diagnostic imaging centers and dental offices that the need for so many x ray technician schools is needed.  With hospitals being the places that can afford the expensive machinery such as an MRI machine or x-ray machines they will employ more people at this very important job.

It is an important job.  Without the x-ray technician, doctors and surgeons would not know what was going on inside the body.  With the help of an x-ray technician a doctor is able to tell if a bone is broken or if something is wrong with one of the organs of the body.

The x-ray technician is well paid with most receiving over 50,000 dollars a year.  Many specialists in this field will receive over 75,000 dollars a year.  The need for x-ray techs is growing every year and a large increase in the need is expected now.
